Reflexology

Reflexology evolved from China and Egypt over 5000 years ago. Today, modern Reflexology is a deeply relaxing natural therapy which uses precise finger and thumb reflexology techniques (similar to massage) on the feet (also the hands, face and ears) to treat the whole body system.

How Reflexology works

Reflexology is based on the principle that vital pathways of information connect our entire body and terminate at tiny reflexology points found on the feet, hands and face and ears. If our natural harmony becomes imbalanced – perhaps due to too much stress, poor nutrition or unhealthy lifestyles – then our information network can get congested and the interconnectedness and intricate balance of our system is lost. Our body and mind can feel under strain, stress may increase and an infinite range of symptoms of ill health may occur, both emotionally and physically.

As a Reflexologist, I work carefully to clear specific congested reflexology points by using finger and thumb techniques and gently applied pressure which is similar to massage. The body experiences relief from stress, anxiety and tension and is supported to return to its natural holistic balance. When our bodies are working harmoniously as it should, we feel happy, healthy and revitalised.

Additional benefits may include:

  • Feelings of deep relaxation
  • Improved mood
  • Improved sleep
  • A general sense of health and well-being

Reflexologists treat people with an infinite number of medical conditions but they do not claim to cure. Rather, Reflexology stimulates the body’s intricate natural balancing mechanisms so that our own body does the healing work.

Who has Reflexology?

Reflexology is suitable for any age. Regular reflexology sessions can leave us feeling more calm, energised and centred. In short, we feel happier and healthier in body and mind. And simply feeling good is a great way to maintain health and balance in our busy lives.

Equally, reflexology is a very effective treatment for a huge range of symptoms of ill health. If you have specific health concerns, you may find that reflexology can help you to manage your symptoms well. Regular sessions are encouraged for those who need more support with their health concerns.

The good news is that reflexology feels great to receive! Please take a look at what some of my clients have to say about Reflexology on my Feedback page.

Your Reflexology Session

Treatment sessions take place reclining on a luxury treatment couch or in a reflexology reclining chair if you prefer. Only your socks and shoes need to be removed and a blanket is offered to keep you comfortable. I have a beautiful treatment room at my home in south Bristol, or alternatively I offer home visits in the Bristol, Bath and Keynsham areas. Reflexology in the workplace is offered by arrangement – please contact me if this is of interest to you.

I will work very individually with you, working carefully on the relevant reflex areas to clear any congestion or blocks. The pressure I use can range from extremely light to firm, depending on a clients needs, but always taking into account your preference too. The session is increasingly relaxing and many clients actually fall asleep during the session!

For those clients who are facing emotional difficulties such as irritability, anxiety, panic attacks or sadness, I also offer a range of simple, effective techniques that you can learn that will help you manage your energy and emotions between our sessions.
